Bees & Our Story

A Story in Every Spoonful

Changing Seasons Brings New Honey Flavors

This coming Monday, September 22 is the Autumn Equinox when the season officially changes from summer into fall. And with that means new, delicious raw honey is on the horizon.

Over the past few weeks there have been a lot of fall season wildflowers popping up near our hives. Blue Curl is one of them, which is an excellent fall season “honey flow” wildflower that the bees can pull nectar from the flowers to produce honey. It makes a unique honey that we plan to call “Bakers Delight” raw honey because of its unique taste that is less sweet and slightly bitter that lends well to baking. When I was checking the hives last weekend I could smell the bees making the honey and it literally smelled like someone was baking nearby! We are hoping to harvest this batch of honey in October.

Also, we are hosting a “End of Summer” honey tasting event next Friday, September 26 in Old Town Clovis. The event is open to the public to stop by anytime between 5:30 pm - 8:00 to taste our Summer Wildflower Honey that we harvested last month. Details are below, if you’re interested. It will be lots of fun!
