Bees are Busy Collecting Honey

We’ve been busy the last month trying to keep up with all that’s happening with the bees! Here’s some pics of our hives from recent visits… stay tuned for more detailed posts coming soon about our first honey harvest of the year (Memorial Day weekend), recent mite counts, and doing splits.

Photo: Taking mite samples using the “powdered sugar roll” method, which shakes powdered sugar on the bees as a natural way to take a mite count sample. The bees then lick the sugar off each other before going back to the business.
